“I’m a Bilingual Project Manager at Discovery Education, and when I was looking for a bilingual video editor who could support me in localizing all of our English Mystery Science lessons into Spanish, I met Dan. Having worked with him for over a year now, I can attest to how skilled, professional, and meticulous he is. From day one, he tackled the project with precision, speed, and great communication. With his fantastic video editing skills and his knowledge of Spanish, every lesson he worked on turned out perfect, and now we are able to reach even more students with our science content in Spanish. Dan is truly a project manager’s dream, and I can’t wait to continue working with him!”

“Daniel worked for us at WGSN on some client video outputs for consultancy deliveries. We briefed him on a series of animated mood-board style sizzle reels to get clients excited for the concepts we are delivering and he absolutely achieved that. He was great to work with, came up with creative solutions and delivered to schedule.”

“Dan's always a pleasure to work with and he struck a fantastic balance when filming book promos for publishers Unbound. I needed someone who could work swiftly and put the often nervous author at ease but also get high quality results. I'd particularly praise Dan's ability to light a shot and he's exceptionally good at using natural light. The Unbound shoots always needed a variety of styles depending on the book and Dan was always highly creative and adaptable to each brief. Always a pleasure to work with.”

Process
-
The development stage is applicable for both video and motion design content. This is where we would have an initial meeting to discuss what issues the company has been facing and how it hopes to address these issues moving forward.
-
Once the objectives for the video have been established, a script is written. In the case of a customer testimonial video for example, plenty of interviews take place to find the best candidate to appear in the video. For example, even though the obvious choice might be to put the CEO of the company in the video, they may not be the most appropriate one to tell the story. Once the talent, locations, and crew have been decided and confirmed, it’s time to move into production.
-
Filming comences. Depending on the type of video, a branded content piece, a customer testimonial, product demonstration etc. - different processes will be implemented. However, on the actual days when we are filming, the methodology followed will largely remain the same. For example, if we were to film an interview, we would first arrive at the location and unload all the equipment. Set up would then take around 2 hours and after that, we would film the interview - which usually last for around 1 hour (per person interviewed). After that, we’d likely film “b-roll”. These are shots that will be edited on top of the interview to help tell the story and hide any edits. This part of the day is more variable and can last anywhere from 1 hour to 3 hours. Packing down the equipment will take around another 2 hours. Backups of the footage will be made before leaving the premises.
-
Once the footage has been filmed, the edit assembly will start. First, a rough content edit will be sent over for review. Once the content is signed off, b-roll or graphics will be added to hide the edits (if they are needed). The next stage includes music and sound design. Once that has been signed off, a basic colour correction is applied so that all shots look and feel the same throughout the video. Usually videos are signed off by the time a 3rd version of the video has been created. The review process is aided by utilizing online platforms like Frame.io where the client can make comments, directly on the video itself.
-
Once the project has been signed off by all the stakeholders involved, the video will be exported and sent either vía WeTransfer or Google Drive to the main point of contact.
